The Beirut Urban Lab is a collaborative research space based in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University of Beirut.

We conducted an extensive brand strategy for the lab, one that allowed it to position itself within the regional and local urban research sphere, and data visualization landscape. The exercise also helped organize the different initiatives, projects, and publications of the platform and come up with a relevant brand architecture scheme. The strategy was followed by a bilingual naming exercise. The design of the identity started of by conceiving a bold and dynamic logotype that allows for different lock-ups and establishes diverse relationships with a wide library of visual elements. Its two distinctive units are reminiscent of urban fabrics, all the while reflecting upon the collaborative methods and learning experiences, as well as the production and reception of knowledge fostered by the Beirut Urban Lab.

The works culminated through the design of the website, which compiled the research, publications, and projects of the lab and organized its initiatives through a dynamic filtering system and thematic threads.
