The Beirut Urban Lab is a collaborative research space based in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University of Beirut.

Kite C.S. conducted an extensive brand strategy for the lab, positioning it within the regional and local urban research sphere as well as the data visualization landscape. This exercise also helped structure the platform’s various initiatives, projects, and publications, leading to a cohesive brand architecture. The strategy was followed by a bilingual naming process.

The identity design began with a bold and dynamic logotype that allows for multiple lock-ups and adaptable relationships with a diverse library of visual elements. Its two distinctive units evoke urban fabrics while reflecting the lab’s collaborative methodologies, learning experiences, and the processes of knowledge production and reception fostered by the Beirut Urban Lab.

The work culminated in the design of the website, which consolidates the lab’s research, publications, and projects, organizing its initiatives through a dynamic filtering system and thematic threads.
