2019
The Arab Council for the Social Sciences (ACSS) is a regional, independent, non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening social science research and knowledge production in the Arab world.
Every two years, the ACSS organizes a conference revolving around a specific theme. Kite C.S. was commissioned to develop the identity of the ACSS 4th conference, titled "Power, Borders and Ecologies in Arab Societies: Practices and Imaginaries," which was held in Beirut on April 12–14, 2019.
The final visual direction was based on a texture created out of scratches that connote the idea of disruption, directly reflecting the conference’s core themes. The intricate relations created by the intersection of the visual elements, paired with a bold and structured typographic composition, mirror the struggles, tensions, power relations, challenges, and complex regional patterns highlighted throughout the conference topics. The comprehensive project comprised the design of posters, certificates, e-invites, promotional items, screen and social media visuals, signage, spatial branding, and event publications.
